Corona virus and can we trust

By Pastor Nick Andrushko

Scripture of interest

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty, I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.” Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. . . “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honour him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him my salvation” (Psalms 91:1 – 6, 14 – 16).

My commentary

Managing Corona virus . . .

Here we are facing a so-called pandemic called Corona virus sweeping the world in a very rapid fashion. Starting in China it has made its way to most of the nations of the world. We have been under its domination for the last two to three months. Businesses shut down, churches closed, many places under lock-down, people told  to stay home, social distancing in place, measures taken to prevent the spread of the virus and the list goes on.

Talk about panic. Everyone put under the realm of fear and told that if you don’t follow protocol you will cause others to be in harm’s way therefore you can be charged with endangering the lives of others. In some places prisons have released prisoners because of the fear of  spreading the corona virus and shut down places because they were considered non-essential services but kept places like abortion clinics, pot stores and liquor stores open. REALLY!!!

Let’s just look for a moment at the statistics of how many people have been affected and how many deaths have occurred. Currently, the world’s population is approximately 7.8 billion and of that number we have about 4,160,000 confirmed cases of the virus which amounts to .053 percent. Of those confirmed cases, as of Monday there were 285,000 people that died which amounts to 7 percent or .0053 percent of the world’s population.  That is an incredibly low number. Most of the deaths that have occurred involve the elderly and usually those with compromised health issues.

So, as I look at the whole situation I am confused. Questions arise for which there don’t seem to be any answers. One of the questions that arises is why quarantine everyone? I can see why you would quarantine the sick  but taking measures to quarantine the healthy just doesn’t make sense. I can understand to a degree that initially measures were taken because no one knew how this would play out but the data is now out which should change the dynamics. But even, initially, the measures taken went way too far because it has created problems which could have been avoided. According to some of the statistics which are out. suicide rates are up dramatically, alcohol abuse is up, domestic violence is on the increase, depressions and hopelessness are part of the problem. Measures taken have caused many to lose their jobs, have affected farmers, churches, small businesses and the general public.

What is the solution to all this? I believe that we need to return to some sensibility. People need to feel that there is hope which is important for our mental health. It’s time for governments to encourage small businesses to open up everywhere, sporting events to be encouraged not discouraged, shopping places to open up and churches be encouraged to open. Of course, necessary measures will be put in place to prevent the virus from spreading, and so be it, but let’s go forward. This idea that the prime minister has about making the vaccine mandatory once it is available and only then will everything be normal is ludicrous. If people have recovered from the virus why do we need the vaccine? (For more on this subject check J.D. Farag – prophecy update – last 5 sessions on U-Tube).

Lastly, I would like to encourage people to pray. It’s time to pray  for the governments locally and federally that God would impart wisdom, sensibility and sound discourse. Men’s wisdom is only secular and the need for God’s impartation of wisdom is greatly needed so that proper directives are given in order for provinces and the nation to go forward carefully and with confidence.

Q and A

Question: Can we trust the government?

Answer: The government is in place to bring order and stability to a country, province, county or city and is put in place in a democratic society by the citizens. However, “can we trust the government?” is the question. The answer is “no”. “Why?” you ask. Because they are human beings like anyone else that are susceptible to their own agenda’s, error and corruption. Therefore they are accountable to the people who put them there and we, the citizens, of this country are the ones who give them the power to govern. We cannot simply assume that once these people are in power that everything they do will be done honourably  and with integrity.

Our nation has been deemed by the U.N. as a secular progressive nation which means that the way it is governed is with anti-christian leanings in morals, pro-abortion rights, governance, taxes, etc. Therefore, we as Christian citizens with moral integrity and right attitudes need to be involved in running for office, praying for our leaders and being  involved. We cannot take things for granted because that is foolishness. Proverbs 14:34 says, Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.

The Serenity Prayer

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardship as a pathway to peace; taking as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it: trusting that You will make all things right if I surrender to Your will; so that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with You forever in the next. Amen!
